JAZZ & CONTEMPORARY
Haylie grew up dancing competitively in Minnesota where she trained most extensively in ballet, jazz and lyrical. Since moving to Colorado in 2010, Haylie has fully immersed herself in the Colorado dance scene. Boulder is where she found her love for contemporary, and she is now pursuing a career as a professional contemporary dancer.
Since beginning her professional career, Haylie has been a member of seven dance companies and is currently in her fifth season of dancing and choreographing for Rogue Co. Dance Company. She has taught workshops and intensives at over twenty studios throughout the country and has had the honor of performing at incredible venus such as The Buell Theatre and Red Rocks Amphitheater for audiences of up to 10,000 people.
Haylie believes that a strong technical foundation is the key to any dancer’s success. While she loves to play with unexpected movement and improvisation, she has the utmost respect for the decades of work that have gone into each genre and knows the importance of the methods and terminology that have been set by our predecessors. Dance is ever-changing, and pushing boundaries to find something new is always a goal, but Haylie feels that it’s a dancer’s duty to thoroughly study foundation in addition to exploring their own unique movement. She encourages her students to use this combination of structure and experimentation in their dancing
